Our Annual Cross Country Meet was held on the 13th April 2017 at the Chinese Garden. A big canopy was specially erected at the Dragon and Phoenix Court to shelter all Merahans from either the sun or rain.
Despite the initial drizzle, our desire and determination to give each and every one a meaningful and unforgettable Cross Country event was commendable as all of us braved through the drizzle to complete this event.
For the very first time in BMSS history, the cross country served as a three-in-one event (Cross Country, NAPFA 2.4 km and Inter-House Challenge). Another new introduction was the use of the Electronic Timing System to replace the manual recording of the runners’ timing. Through this new initiative, more staff could be freed up to enable them to join in the run with our students. There is also a Staff Race where five teachers from each house ran the actual cross country to help their respective houses to gain more points for the Inter-House Challenge.
Our Parent Support Group (PSG) was also roped in to participate in this event. Together with the CCA members from the Young Entrepreneur Club (YEC), they set up two stalls selling healthy snacks to prevent Merahans from going hungry.
Though the weather was not perfect, it did not dampen our spirits at all. Instead, the atmosphere was filled with joy and excitement. In this event, different stakeholders came together as one big Bukit Merah Family to participate in a healthy activity, and to forge and reinforce relationships among each and every one of us.
