In Term 3 Week 4, 6 teachers and 32 students of our sister school Jiangnan Middle School (JNMS), visited our school. The visitors were led by the school’s Administrative Head Mdm Ren Cheng.
During their 5-day stay in Singapore, our visitors attended lessons conducted by our teachers as well as vendors. Both teachers and students attended an English lesson specially prepared and conducted by Mdm Leow Ser Leng on their first day of visit. The students also had the chance to play floorball. Under the guidance of Mr Lim Chun Leong, students learnt this sport, and played matches with their friends after learning some basic techniques. To understand our Malay culture better, the JNMS students attended a Malay Music Workshop on their second day of visit. Students had the chance to play and learn more about the Malay music instruments – Angklung and Kompang. Teachers from JNMS had a dialogue session with our teachers Mdm Leow, Mr Jereme Chee and Mr Tan Tua Choon. JNMS students also stayed in our students’ homes where they could experience the life of a local student.
To ensure their stay in Singapore is a worthwhile and enjoyable one, the school also took our visitors to the Singapore Zoological Garden and the orchid garden in Singapore Botanical Garden. To let them better understand our local culture, they went on a heritage trail at Kampong Glam.
