In Bukit Merah Secondary School, we celebrated International Friendship Day (IFD) and Youth for the Environment Day on 4 April 2017. The theme for this year’s IFD is ‘ASEAN 50’. A series of activities were lined up to engage the studetns and to provide opportunities for them to appreciate the culture of various ASEAN countries. Students were exposed to the various collaborations amongst the ASEAN countries and better appreciate the concept of forming strong friendships through a sharing by Mr Clement Xiao. We were also privileged to welcome students and teachers from Bangpakok School during this week of celebration. They showcased Thailand’s rich heritage and culture through their music and dance performance which the audience watched in awe and responded with enthusiastic applause. The International Students in the school had not been forgotten. The Cambodia and Indonesian students shared interesting facts and cultures of their homelands which enabled us to gain insights into the lifestyles there . Mr Joshua Goh then empowered the students with knowledge of the water issues in Singapore and how youths can play their part in the water-saving campaign.
